Wearing Our Identity

“Wearing Our Identity'“ was inspired by PAM's Future Now: Virtual Sneakers to Cutting-Edge Kicks exhibition, which featured nearly 60 futuristic footwear designs pushing the boundaries of what footwear can be.

College mentors collaborated with middle schoolers on shoe, fashion, apparel, and pattern design, exploring cultural identity and creative expression. Together, we examined personal style and fashion as a means of expressing identity through clothing, as well as the concept of fashion as art.

College and middle school students worked together on creative projects related to themes of identity and clothing, including drawing our outfits and creating hats and footwear. We designed and created outfits, culminating in a public exhibition showcasing artwork inspired by clothing and identity. We also explored digital design, 3D printing, and laser cutting.
