Robots and Cyborgs
Is it a Robot or a Cyborg? In this hands-on workshop, high school students and their college mentors explored the intersection of technology and human experience by designing their own cyborgs and robots. We looked at how technology helps people without the use of limbs, as well as the ways we are integrating technology to support athletes, health, and well-being.
We started with a question: What holds you back? Have you found ways to overcome it—through tools, support, technology, or even a shift in perspective? Through discussion and creative exercises, students reflected on personal challenges and what helps them navigate them.
We also examined real-world examples of technology enhancing human ability, from prosthetics to athletic performance and healthcare. Through collaboration and imagination, participants envisioned the future of human-tech integration and created costumes to turn themselves into robots or cyborgs.
