Elisabeth Charman

 
 

Lis Charman is co-coordinator of Friendtorship, an art and mentorship program for middle and high school students. Committed to community-based learning Lis’s teaching focuses on understanding the influence and relevance of graphic design to society and culture. Her students have engaged a number of community partners including Portland’s homeless youth population, micro-business entrepreneurs, watershed researchers, independent filmmakers, and immigrant families. Lis has shared her experience in community-based learning through national conferences, public talks, exhibitions, published articles and book chapters. Her design work has been published and exhibited nationally and internationally. Lis received an MFA in Graphic Design from CalArts.
