General Summary
Letterforms are fundamental building blocks of communication. Typography is a foundational element across all languages. As a brand experience agency we recognize font design as a cornerstone of brand identity. Creating brand experiences requires attention to detail. Designing typefaces, the physical manifestation of a brand’s language, requires great attention to detail.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Major areas of responsibility include, but not limited to:
Typography-focused development and execution of projects – from initial concept through final art
Working collaboratively with members of the creative, strategy, digital, production, and client services teams, as well as freelance staff
Essential Duties
Type design development and execution of projects – from initial concept through final art – working collaboratively with other members of the creative typography team.
Reports directly to the Senior Creative Director
Meets with typography team to discuss design directions and objectives as well as schedule and other project parameters.
Provide rationale for design solutions and how they support the project’s objectives.
Keep work fresh by discovering new trends within design and typography.
Participate in creative projects from the development of initial comps through final delivery, including: development of initial comps and presentation materials, through various rounds until approval.
Development of final art, making sure it meets the specifications and requirements of the project.
Archive and file management in accordance with agency process throughout the project.
Execution of the creative work is delivered according to the quality and accuracy standards set by the agency.
May need to check in with Client Manager, Project Coordinator or Producer to ensure that the project schedules are being met when ACD or CD is unavailable.
Other responsibilities and duties as needed.

Qualifications
Required qualifications (knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience)
BFA or AA with major in art direction, graphic design or other related field, from accredited art institute
1-3 years of design experience, with exposure to identity development, print and digital marketing materials, websites and interactive projects, events, packaging, advertising, and retail display, etc.
The talent and experience to produce world-class design solutions through strategic thought
Expert knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
An understanding of trends in typography, photography, illustration, color, and design.
Experience designing letterforms, a knack for wordmarks and logos
Ability to work in a team environment and adhere to design direction set by team leaders.
An ability to contribute creatively and strategically during concepting and throughout the project
Strong interpersonal skills (open, friendly, respectful, and supportive attitude).
A passion for design, typography, and a desire to learn
Basic knowledge of blogging techniques (Tumblr, WordPress, etc.)
Ability to work within a fast paced environment
Mature, responsible, and accountable
Self motivated and organized
Preferred qualifications
Knowledge in FontLab, FontStruct, FontForge are welcome.
