Publication Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position supports the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications in creating and producing marketing materials and publications for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Campus Visits, and Orientation Programs. The Publication Specialist supports the day-to-day and long term marketing projects for web, print, and email campaigns. This position works collaboratively with University Communications to assist in communications, outreach and marketing efforts in the recruitment and enrollment of prospective students.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
>>Prepare or edit publications such as the Parent Newsletter, Office of Undergraduate Admissions annual newsletter, and others for internal or external audiences.
>>Study the objectives and promotional needs of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Campus Visits, and Orientation Programs to develop creative materials that will support the recruitment and enrollment of prospective students.
Aid the Associate Director to update and maintain content posted on the Admissions, Campus Visits, and Orientation webpages.
>>Assist in the consultation with advertising agencies and University Communications to arrange promotional campaigns in all forms of media: web, print and email.
>>Design creative, image-enhancing artwork and layout for materials used in marketing and promoting the programs and events.

REQUIRED SKILLS
>>Ability to handle multiple and shifting tasks
>>Experience with database concepts, search engines, and standard information databases
>>Comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of applicable desktop publishing and graphic software packages
>>Ability to coordinate larger scale projects involving coordination with various units and individuals and all phases of production
>>Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
>>Close attention to detail
>>Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and interface with management-level staff
>>Takes pride in working within a high-quality, high-integrity organization

DESIRED SKILLS
>>Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Adobe InDesign, PowerPoint, simple HTML
>>Previous experience in a higher education environment
>>Background in university publication coordination and development
