Promotional artwork for an event at Portland Cocktail Week

Hello! I’m putting together an event to feature bartenders and chefs of color on Sunday, October 21st and I’m looking to hire an African American/Black graphic designer who can create promotional artwork for this unique event. The aesthetic and ethos will highlight Portland’s rich, but largely underrepresented history surrounding African American jazz musicians and how they influenced the city during the 1940s and 1950s.

What: Brown and Balanced
When: Sunday, October 21st 12pm – 5pm
Where: The Jupiter Hotel (800 E Burnside St, Portland, OR 97214)

Brown and Balanced endeavors to highlight the achievements and impact that black bartenders and female/chefs of color have in our industry while offering a great time to our guests. This event will offer drinks made by black bartenders paired with food made by female chefs and chefs of color. Guests will be invited in to taste incredible food and drink in a relaxed cookout setting.

Inspiration: We’re looking for artwork to use on Facebook, Instagram, Newsletters and the Portland Cocktail Week Website, in addition to printed menus in the vein of the digital art to display day of. Jordie Ho-Shue, Brown and Balanced Organizer, would be happy to pass along items for inspiration upon request. As the bartenders for the event are confirmed, we’d love to update the digital art to feature photos of the bartenders.

Requirements to consider: Source files must be released to Lush Life Productions upon completion and approval of the art (including font), to be used in the creation of menus and other physical assets (which means the artwork may be altered). All original artwork will be credited to you in social media use. We are also very happy to have you create menus/alter artwork for social use pending an agreed upon hourly rate.
