Willamette Week is looking for a part-time editorial designer! Candidate will be responsible for page layout of some arts, music, film and news pages. Occasional illustration, hand lettering, and other design opportunities as needed on a weekly basis.
Must be proficient in InDesign (paragraph styles, linked text, master pages, using the grid, etc.), Illustrator (shapes and pen tool, some vector illustration, chart-making, maps) and Photoshop (adjustments and editing, saving images for print and web).
The weekly press cycle can be fast-paced! Be prepared to work quickly, while getting to dip into alternative local culture and news in Portland.
20 hours/week. Must be available Mondays and Tuesdays, Fridays preferable. Technically this is a freelance position, working out of our office in Slabtown.
21+ preferred due to our coverage of cannabis and booze culture.
