Paid Graphic Design Intern: Summer 2018

The Refugee Center Online (RCO) is recruiting a Graphic Design intern to develop web and print materials for our organization. The intern will gain valuable outreach and communications experience and contribute to the growth of a dynamic nonprofit dedicated to improving the refugee resettlement experience.
Responsibilities include:
Create visual concepts to help communicate ideas that inspire and inform our two target audiences: refugees and supporters of refugees.
Develop materials for website, in particular new landing pages, small icons, banners, etc.
Develop materials for RCO social media efforts
Other administrative tasks as assigned

Skills required:
Interested in helping refugees and immigrants thrive in the United States
Background in graphic design; have knowledge and strong command of Adobe suites, InDesign or other design suite
Are self-motivated and creative
Have strong oral and written communication skills
Have cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to design for a broad audience from many different cultural backgrounds
Bi-lingual a plus
Prefer current BA or MBA student with major or classwork in art, graphic design, web design, digital, strategy, or other related field. Will consider others based on portfolio and/or qualifications.

The Refugee Center Online (RCO) uses technology to help refugees and displaced individuals build new lives. Our interactive, multi-language website provides refugees and immigrants with educational opportunities and general information about American society, and connects them to services, programs, and organizations in their new communities. The website serves as a unique consolidation of disconnected services available for refugees in the US.

Internship Requirements:
Commitment: Summer 2018, 10 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks necessary to complete the internship.
Location: Work will be performed at the RCO’s office, 2420 NE Portland, Suite 102, Portland, Oregon, 97232
Compensation: Intern will receive a stipend of $925. This will be a training position. Intern will gain skills and knowledge of non-profit best practices.
