This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Graphic Artist 2 position for University Relations and Marketing-Web Communications at Oregon State University (OSU).
This Graphic Artist will focus on the creation of motion graphics, responsive web interfaces for desktop, mobile and tablets, as well as a variety of other digital design tasks.
Working within our brand identity guidelines, and at the direction of the Interactive Design Manger, this designer will select, edit and correct images, create web graphics and layouts for websites. Some projects will require the creation of new designs, while other will require the creation of assets for use within existing website designs.
This designer will take layouts created in Photoshop and convert them into working HTML and CSS web interfaces, optimized for online performance to hand off to developers for implementation on the web.
This role also creates motion graphics for use in commercials, short videos for web as well as feature video. Motion work will include a variety of styles, from animating information graphics, creating transitions, textures and free-form animation.
30% Create motion graphics for video content
20% Design web, mobile and tablet interfaces in Photoshop
20% Convert Photoshop compositions to HTML, CSS
20% Coordinate, create, organize, select and edit photos, icons, charts and illustrations for use on OSU websites
10% researching and demonstrating knowledge of emerging web technologies and provides technical assistance and consultation to staff; advises on methods of attaining a desired end in relationship to web design;
This position deals with communicators, designers and web developers across campus, providing design work, mock-ups, web interfaces, motion graphics and CSS stylesheets. This designer will need to work independently and also collaborate with teams working in mobile applications, websites and video content.
Four years of graphics arts design production experience. A Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Graphic Arts may substitute for two years of experience.A Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a minimum of 18 quarter (12 semester) hours of graphic arts courses may substitute for one year of the experience. The top candidates on the list will have specialized training or experience in one or more of the following: color separation, calligraphy, scientific illustration, or computer graphics. Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses. NOTE: Applicants invited for an interview should be prepared to present a personal portfolio of their work for review at the time of the interview.
- Two years of web design production experience.
- Excellent Adobe Photoshop skills
- Strong knowledge of CSS
- Strong Adobe After Effects skills
- Demonstrate strong conceptual skills in body of work
