As a Jr. Digital Design Intern, you will be provided a window into the creative and business processes at a small digital studio. You will be assisting the Creative and Digital Art Directors with designing, prototyping, and developing strategies for digital projects in a highly creative, collaborative, and fast-paced environment. You have a passion for the web and are eager to learn best practices in designing web apps and websites. Ideally, you are familiar with responsive design. Above all, we want someone who loves what they do and takes pride in presenting complete and well thought-out design.
Monumental is small in stature but not in aspiration, located in the SE Industrial District of Portland, OR. We build lasting relationships with clients in the lifestyle and small commercial brand space, with many ecommerce clients. We work hard, but are relaxed in doing so. We’re collaborative and constructive, and ego isn’t a thing here.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be responsible for assisting other team members in creating assets, prototypes, wireframes and final designs. You will need to be able to design with web standards and best practices in mind.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Digital/interactive design education track (familiarity with modern web practices in color, layout, typography, user experience design, user flows, prototyping, user interfaces, navigation and responsive design best practices)
Passion for creating excellent web experiences, with a working knowledge of basic coding languages
Enthusiasm and desire to continually grow professionally and learn every day
Imaginative, ability to create solutions with limited input, ability to adapt and learn new software tools and processes
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Experience working with Sketch, WordPress and/or Shopify
Working knowledge of designing for mobile and responsive websites • Up-to-date with latest startups and digital products
Starts unpaid internship, school credit possible depending on academic institution’s requirements, potential to-hire
Start date: Winter 2016-17 with flexible scheduling
Duration: minimum 1 month, maximum 6 months depending on student’s needs
