Instructional Support Tech 3

The Portland Community College Music Program seeks an Instructional Support Technician based at Rock Creek Campus. The Music Program welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and abilities to study, perform and develop their instrumental or vocal skills in preparation for transfer to four-year institutions as music majors and minors. The instructional support technician enhances students’ learning experience by ensuring classes, events, and facilities are properly organized and set up to run smoothly. Their work involves coordinating digital audio and video production, designing and delivering promotion campaigns, managing live music performances, maintaining studio/lab spaces, purchasing equipment and supplies, and managing the equipment loan program. The instructional support technician also coordinates the work of casual staff, including student workers. The scope of this includes developing work schedules, onboarding, and providing ongoing coaching.

The successful candidate will join a department committed to designing, fostering, and facilitating learning environments that are welcoming to a diversity of communities, with an emphasis on communities historically excluded from access to music programs, such as women and people of color.

Technical competence is important. But even more important is an enthusiasm for learning and personal growth, a joy in collaborating, and a desire to encourage and foster growth in others.
