Opportunity for technical illustrator with some copyediting and proofreading skills to support technical documentation deliverables for consumer product user manuals. Products vary in all types.
Will complete production and technical illustration primarily for assembly guides and user’s manuals. Technical illustration includes creation and re-creation and revision of graphics, including and not limited to characteristic curves and graphs, schematics, block diagrams, component part layout, product visualization to “actual product” and supporting materials. Applies source content from final test documents as needed.
Ability to draw product and assembly graphics from visual representation of product (sight, photos or video) in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Applies company brand standards, business group templates/standards and industry standards, guides and warnings as applicable to documents. Will work using standardized processes and workflows in cross-functional team environment with online software and project management. General publication tasks include QA, proofreading, resolving cross-references for small and medium documents.
Responsibilities: (NOT a technical writing position)
¥ Primary responsibility includes the production and technical illustration for the following document types: assembly guides and user’s manuals (PDF and online)
¥ Highly skilled services for creation, adaptation and revision of graphics in various formats and product assembly stages.
¥ Production work, including pre and post-production, including technical illustration (schematics, component layouts, block diagrams, curves, charts and others)
¥ Edit documents for style conventions (adhering to group style guide) in online collaboration work environment
¥ Work to standardized processes and workflows in cross-functional team environment
¥ Work in compliance with corporate process and identity standards
¥ General and detailed publication duties (proofreading, paginating, spell checking, and resolving cross-references for small and medium documents)
¥ Creation of job aids and internal guidelines to support business processes
¥ Solid knowledge and use of the latest versions of the following tools latest version of Adobe Illustrator and tools for extensive filtering cleanup of graphics (DXF, CGM, WMF, TIF, etc), or like program such as FrameMaker. Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Professional
¥ Excellent production and technical illustration skills with the ability to manipulate create and/or revise graphic in multiple file formats.
¥ Ability to meet tight deadlines with aggressive delivery standards and time requirements.
¥ 3+ years’ experience in the technical illustration
¥ Very strong proofreading skills
¥ Very strong organizational skills
¥ Proficiency in English grammar
¥ Ability to work well with collaborative teams
Availability to work for 20+ hours per week on average (or more). Work samples are required.
