Graphic Design Internship

For more than 20 years, Ecotrust (www.ecotrust.org) has converted $80 million in grants into more than $500 million in capital for local people, businesses, and organizations from Alaska to California. Ecotrust’s many innovations include co-founding the world’s first environmental bank, starting the world’s first ecosystem investment fund, creating a range of programs in fisheries, forestry, food, farms and indigenous affairs, and developing new scientific and information tools to improve social, economic and environmental decision-making. Ecotrust works locally in ways that promise hope abroad, and it honors and supports the wisdom of Native and First Nation leadership in its work.

Internship description:
We are looking for talented graphic design students who are as interested in ideas as they are in images. Ecotrust offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of meaningful projects – from our new experimental online publication Commonplace to our long-standing print publication Edible Portland, special event posters, websites, apps, identity projects, installations, presentations, infographics, maps and more. This is an internship where we take your growth as a designer and thinker seriously and expect you to do the same.

Qualifications:
• Passionate about Ecotrust’s work
• Excited and engaged with visual culture
• Able to work well independently and in a support role
• Great communication skills and flexible work style
• Competent with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Ability and willingness to learn Prezi and Powerpoint

Duration: October 2014 – June 2015 (12-15 hours per week)

Start Date: ASAP

Compensation:
This position is being funded through the generous support of donors and the Institute for Sustainable Solutions to the Sustainability Internship Program (http://www.pdx.edu/sustainability/sustainability-internship-program) to support student career pathways in sustainability. Compensation: undergraduates receive $1,200 per term and graduate students receive $1,500 per term. (Compensation will be prorated for the number of days per month that you work. Time commitment: 12-15 hours per week. The number of internship hours may vary depending on student or organization needs. Deadline to apply: October 20, 2014
