Street Roots is an award-winning, nonprofit, social justice advocacy newspaper in Portland, Ore.
We are looking for a talented graphic artists interested in getting published who can work with Street Roots on an as-needed basis. This would mean periodic requests for artwork to pair with stories: Like this one:
We currently have a story coming in about the food stamp cuts and the health are damage that can cause children. A simple illustration, black and white, of an empty bowl, perhaps, or something straightforward, could be a major piece of art in the paper. This deadline for this particular piece is Tuesday, Jan. 28. We work on pretty tight deadlines.
We can pay a flat rate for quality work, which could be with stories or as standalone graphics. Pay is to be determined.
To Apply:
Please inquire at joanne@streetroots.org, either with samples of your work, or with the example noted above by Tuesday. Either way, we’re looking to develop relationships with artists for the newspaper as the months progress.
Thank you!
