POSITION SUMMARY 15 hours/week $14/hour.
PSU’s Office of Research & Graduate Studies (RGS) is currently seeking a Student Assistant to assist with daily office communications operations, including online and email communications, graphic design, photography, and document preparation assignments. This position works with Research and Graduate Studies (RGS) employees, and reports to the office’s Communications Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Update content on RGS website and affiliated website pages as needed – Assist with updating content on RGS website and subdomains as requested by RGS Communications Manager and departmental administrators.
Add syndicated content to PSU Enterprise Drupal Content Management System (CMS) – Upload and format content created by RGS Communications Manager to PSU’s Enterprise CMS.
Maintain RGS social media feeds – Regularly add content to RGS’s @psu_research Twitter account and Portland State Research Instagram feed.
Graphic and document design – Work with Communications Manager and RGS staff to create graphic elements for office communications projects; design digital and print brochures, flyers, posters, and other marketing collateral on an as-needed basis.
Maintain confidentiality – Work with professional discretion, protecting the confidentiality of any and all office documents, as well as any confidential information divulged in conversations.
Other duties as assigned – Assist RGS staff members with requests as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Apps, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
Enrolled in at least 6 Undergraduate credits or 5 Graduate credits per term.
Meets all requirements for student employment listed in the HR Student Handbook.
Ability and willingness to deliver items across campus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with the following platforms and tools: HTML, Emma, and Google Analytics.
1+ year(s) graphic and document design experience.
1+ year(s) experience with digital photography.
Experience working with Drupal or other CMS.
Knowledge of appropriate writing styles for social media.
Knowledge of SEO and SEM best practices.
TYPICAL WORKING HOURS
10-15 hours per week, M-F 8am-5pm, flexible by term to complement academic obligations
Funding available for three (3) terms, with possible discretionary extension through the end of summer term.
