We seek a graphic designer to work on KSMoCA design projects for 2-4 hours a week. You’ll get to work on a range of exciting projects with tasks ranging from typesetting text for signs that get hung next to pieces of artwork, developing and creating content (for signs, web, books, and more!), and prepping files for production. Applicants should like to collaborate, be interested in using and refining existing character and paragraph styles, developing style guides, paying close attention to typographic details, creating drafts quickly, and be comfy with being very responsive to emails. You’ll work closely with Laura Glazer (a graduate student in the PSU Art and Social Practice MFA Program) and the co-directors and co-founders of the museum, Lisa Jarrett and Harrell Fletcher. (They’re also awesome professors in the School of Art and Design at PSU!)
This position requires on-site and in-person work in addition to solo computer time; no remote applicants, please. Ideally, we’d begin working together February 1, 2023.
Poke around our website to get a sense of the look and feel of our materials. (Definitely download the free PDF versions of our publications!)
To Apply:
Please email us one PDF containing 3-5 work samples that highlight your approach to typesetting and laying out text. We prefer to see examples of what you’ve done for print materials since that is the bulk of what this position requires. In the body of the email include one paragraph about yourself. (Feel free to tell us what year are you in school, what you like designing, and describe an experience you had collaborating with another person or group of people—it doesn’t have to be related to design or art.
