Design and Marketing Coordinator

Position Description:
• Events: This position maintains the “front door” to the QRC, coordinating all promotional materials for the
Queer Resource Center and QRC events;
• Programs: Coordinate – with QRC staff input – all printed and promotional materials for all QRC Programs,
QRC email and calendar accounts, and all social media; Coordinate all marketing campaigns for QRC;
create and disseminate weekly newsletter; use campus and community networks to promote QRC events
and programs, coordinate contact with campus and community media outlets
• Meetings: The Design and Marketing Coordinator will attend staff meetings and supervision meetings,
maintain regular office hours, and will seek out marketing and outreach information from all planning
• Supervision: The QRC Assistant Coordinator supervises the Design and Marketing Coordinator. The
Design and Marketing Coordinator supervises student interns with a marketing and outreach focus;
• NOTE: The Design and Marketing position requires a high level of independence and communication in
managing multiple projects while working with QRC staff on content and design input.
● Competence with Google applications, and Adobe Creative Suite programs (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.);
● Willingness to become trained in the university website standards – this position is responsible for work
with the PSU Servers, Drupal, and web templates;
● Excellent communication skills including working with community partners; function and communicate
effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs;
● Serve as a committed representative of the QRC at work and on campus;
● Be able to work in a noisy environment with frequent interruptions;
● Enroll in at least 6 credits at Portland State and maintain satisfactory academic progress ;
● Maintain a 2.5 cumulative Portland State GPA for undergraduate students or 3.0 cumulative GPA for
graduate students;
● Commitment to the development of an inclusive community at Portland State. This position is a role model
for the PSU Community and must be active in pursuing self-education regarding issues of sexism, racism,
cissexism, heterosexism, classism, ageism, ableism, and religious intolerance;
● Experience working with students exploring sexual orientation and gender identity.
Duration and Compensation: Student Employee 2: $10.00/hour, 15 hours/week, 36 weeks
