Internship Position: Graphic Design Intern
The Bus Project Foundation is looking for a sharp, talented graphic designer to take the lead on designing materials for our upcoming festival of ideas, innovation and democracy: Rebooting Democracy.
The design intern will be responsible for working from an existing look and feel designed by our standing graphic design volunteer (and currently applied to our poster and website) and will create the following products:
Event Program: A 40-60 page newsprint booklet that contains information about all of the week’s events and which will be sent to a few thousand people. The job requires careful attention to detail and the ability to turn a lot of crazy information into legible, easy-to-understand layouts.
Event Signage: This includes signage at all of our dozens of venues that will create a visual consistency to the event and help people navigate the sprawling open campus.
Online, Print & Public Transit Advertisements: We’ll be running ads in local papers, online and potentially on TriMet.
Other materials: Including tickets, coasters, buttons and other ephemera we decide to produce.
This is a great opportunity to build up your portfolio, learn about working in a nonprofit environment, be exposed to Oregon’s rich non-profit & political scene, and strengthen your brand identity & information design skills.
The event is taking place April 16-22, and much of the design will need to be completed by the end of March. We’re hoping to have this position start as soon as possible.
Qualifications:
Proficient in graphic design for print and digital formats
Skilled in the Adobe Design Suite (we have CS 4 at the office, but you’re welcome to use your own computer if you like)
Experience working with multi-page layouts necessary
Experience working with a non-profit team a plus, but not required
Working knowledge of Oregon politics and social innovation a plus, but not required
Whip-smart, hard-working, self-motivated, detail oriented and everything else it takes to do a good job
Time Commitment
10-15 hour / week.
