LITERARY ARTS – Marketing & PR Internship Fall & Spring Positions

The Marketing Intern will assist the Marketing Director with organization‐wide marketing needs, graphic design, communications, and events as assigned. This is a great opportunity to be exposed to the inner workings of the Literary Arts marketing department and learn a wide variety of specific marketing and communications skills. This internship is designed to be a fun and challenging experience that develops one professionally. Please note the position requires a 4 to 6 month time commitment (12 to 16 hours per week, schedule flexible). The internship is unpaid. We do offer tickets to all Literary Arts events and an opportunity to participate in Delve Seminars.

‐ Graphic design assistance
‐ Assist with updating press list, drafting press releases and story pitches
‐ Assist in print publication and distribution of print materials
‐ Assist with updating website content
‐ Assist with social media marketing outreach: Facebook, Twitter, Blogs
‐ Assist with proof reading print and digital materials
‐ Assist with email marketing strategies
‐ Researching and coordinating grassroots promotional efforts
‐ Provide on‐site support at Portland Arts & Lecture events
‐ Provide booth planning, setup and support at Portland’s Wordstock Book Festival (Oct 9‐11)
‐ General office maintenance, archives and other duties as assigned
‐ Interview, hire and train intern replacement at end of commitment

‐ Interest in marketing, graphic design, and sales
‐ Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites 4
‐ Knowledge of Microsoft Office
‐ Excellent interpersonal skills
‐ Self starter
