What year did you gradute from PSU?
When and why did you start Lark Press?
I started Lark Press in 2004. I bought a small
press and taught myself to letterpress. I also took
a lot of printmaking classes at PSU and found
this art form to be my true passion! So luckily,
I was able to use my Graphic Design degree
with my love for printmaking and actually make
Please tell us a little about Lark Press.
Lark Press is a small retail shop and studio in North Portland
(next to Pix Patisserie). We have three Chandler and Price
Clam shell presses. We design + print custom wedding invitations
and have a greeting card line.
In what ways (faculty, program, projects, classes, etc) was PSU-GD
successful in preparing you?
It was really helpful for me to participate in the internship class…I interned
at a popular graphic design firm and it made me realize that I didn't want
to spend my entire day in front of a computer.
Any advice for current students? Any advice (educational or ?) for
students who share your entrepreneurial spirit?
I think it is hard to think you could make a living by doing what makes
you happy but it is worth the sacrafice! But take as many business classes
