Opportunity for advertising/marketing, graphic design/art, communications students. Gain advertising agency experience while earning course credit –ACCEPTING JOB MATERIALS NOW– The PSU School of Business has an exciting opportunity for those looking to gain out-of-class experience working on a real advertising campaign.

FIR Advertising is a student-run agency that develops advertising campaigns for local Portland businesses. Working with real clients, real budgets, and real accountability, this is a unique and tremendously valuable opportunity for students looking to get a leg up on the post-grad job market and continue developing the FIR brand within the community.

FIR’s existing client roster includes Portland State Vikings Football, with several prospective accounts currently under negotiation. Although all agency personnel will be expected to work on all aspects of agency accounts, individuals will be assigned to special titles/roles according to interest + competency. Some of these roles include: Account Service (client liaison) Account Planning (consumer investigation) Brand Strategist Media + Digital Strategist Social Media Community Manager Copywriter Art Director Production Coordinator Project Manager   

In addition to presenting project deliverables to the client, work produced may be presented to an advisory board of local advertising agency professionals each term. Participation as a member of the agency will be counted as internship credit subject to Pass/No Pass and will be during the 2011 summer term (though interns are highly encouraged to continue the experience throughout the rest of the school year). To receive permission to enroll in the internship, candidates must submit a cover letter (letter of interest), resume, and recruitment ad (optional) to FIR Advertising, Attn: Dr. Tim Christy, no later than June 6, 2011.
