#FACEDEFACEPDX is a new body of work by studio mates Alex DeSpain (PSUGD Alumni) and Jason Sturgill (PSUGD Faculty). As an exercise in collaboration, Jason and Alex have created 150 original ink drawings that will be on display. Each one of the pieces features an illustrated character, created by one of them (Alex or Jason) laying down the background color before passing it to the other who would then create a character in black ink using the previous color field as inspiration. The piece would be passed back again where one of them would hand letter words that seemed to fit with that character. Through defacing each others’ work Alex and Jason were kept from not being precious with their drawings and felt free to experiment and have fun.

Please join Jason and Alex on Thursday, October 1st at 7pm for their opening at Compound Gallery
