Kathy Fry is Associate Principal of the Visual Communications and Product Design group at Mayer/Reed, Inc. She has focused her 15 year design career on place-based experiences—shaping where we live, work, play, heal and learn through signage, wayfinding and experiential graphics. “We are welcomed by landmarks, put at ease with clear way finding, and make a deeper connection through interpretation.”
Recent work includes Tilikum Crossing bridge commemoration, OMSI exterior wayfinding and MAX Orange Line signage and site furnishings. Her work has been recognized with awards from SEGD and ASLA for the Vancouver Community Library wayfinding and Design Week event entitled “Revolution in the Landscape: Re-experience Halprin’s Fountains.”
Kathy is a graduate of Portland State University with a degree in Graphic Design and Sociology. In 2013 she co-founded the Portland Chapter of the Society of Experiential Graphic Design and now serves on the national board.
