Deadline for Movement Registration is 11/18/20!

Posted on Nov 16th, 2020 by Kate Bingaman-Burt

Movement is for BIPOC students, allies, faculty, and all of us at PSUGD.

Join us on November 20th from 10am–Noon as we come together to fight for systemic anti-racism, inclusion, and equity within the GD department. There will be a short presentation to share the themes that came up in the confidential listening sessions. Students and faculty (who will also take notes) will then be invited to participate in breakout rooms based on the themes. The meeting will culminate with a group discussion to determine some ideas for next steps and to enlist a coalition of volunteers to act as a workgroup to support holding the department accountable.

This meeting is open to the entire PSUGD community.

Register by Nov 18th at noon: https://tinyurl.com/commaworkgroup.

Collage Club Potluck!

Posted on Nov 16th, 2020 by Kate Bingaman-Burt

The holidays are right around the corner, and you know what that means! Holiday parties, quality time with friends and family, and some questionable potluck side dishes…if only! Since we are unable to host an in-person potluck, we have created a virtual collage event where everyone can bring in and share digital collage assets – potluck style! Our plan is to create a holiday-inspired collage story for the next collage club zine, and we need your help!
Everyone who signs up will be given a theme to base their asset collection around. We will then convene over zoom to hang out, enjoy our own food and drink, and build collages in Figma.
Register now at tiny.cc/collagepotluck

Posted on Nov 9th, 2020 by Kate Bingaman-Burt

Join us fro the LAST Show & Tell of the term!

Dinesh holds a Graphic Design BFA from SCAD (The Savannah College of Art and Design) Atlanta and graduated in 2012.

Dinesh is currently a Product Designer at Facebook in San Francisco, California.

But prior to joining Facebook, Dinesh was at Apple, launching the worlds best products on dot com and AKQA and Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Oregon where he designed delightful ads in all kinds of different mediums such as print, web, film, motion and interactive experiences for an arrange of clients like Levis, Oreo, Coca-Cola and Nike.

Originally from London, England, he whisked off to USA, at the age of 18 to pursue the American dream.

Dinesh is happy to no longer worry about things like MySpace and crummy British weather (But dearly misses crumpets and M&S sandwiches). When he’s not playing with pixels, Dinesh likes to tinker with new technology, drones, making mini films, VR, and take an obscene number of photos and cross things off of his YOLO (You Only Live Once) list.

Posted on Nov 9th, 2020 by Kate Bingaman-Burt

New elective for winter lead by Jordan Rosenblum @zeroprocess!

How can design help us make meaning of a place? The course will explore exhibition design, though a collaborative project designing an exhibition about a historic site in the Portland area. Students will research multiple facets of the site including its historical, ecological, and contemporary contexts. The course will also take a critical approach to traditional interpretive exhibition design, seeking an alternative that includes voices that are typically under-represented. The project will be developed in partnership with the Five Oaks Museum. This will be a highly interdisciplinary course, and students interested in socially engaged art, writing, online and print publication, and artistic research are encouraged to enroll. Questions? Reach out to Jordan, rosenblum@pdx.edu
