Jordan Rosenblum and Kim Sutherland
RECESS! Design Studio is a creative agency, experimental classroom, and artist project housed inside the Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Elementary School in Northeast Portland. The RECESS! creative directors and designers will present recent projects from the program.

Together/Apart: A New Participatory Project from Friendtorship!

Posted on May 25th, 2020 by Kate Bingaman-Burt

Together/Apart aims to foster community and friendship through art and creativity. Though we cannot be together physically, we are all still a part of the same community we were before.

We hope to create a feeling of inclusion through shared experiences. Together/Apart is space to take creative risks, be vulnerable, process emotions, and share our perspectives. The distance doesn’t reduce the value of our connections with one another.

Join Us! Let’s make something Together, while we’re Apart. Follow them on Instagram too!

Sophomores! The 2020 Sophomore Portfolio Review will open for submissions soon. As you’re refining your work and getting feedback from mentors and teachers, here are a few more things to know to help you get ready!

  • Register for the Review now if you haven’t already! It’s a hugely important first step you can do today that lets us know you’re planning to submit a portfolio! You don’t need anything ready but your name and your student ID.
  • Look over the guidelines and rubric! The info session slide deck and handbook are the go-to places for what you need to include in your portfolio itself and in your submission.
  • Know how to prep your files! We’ll need three PDFs when submissions open. Our Sophomore Portfolio Review website has info on how to set up each one!
  • Submissions for the 2020 Sophomore Portfolio Review open Monday, June 1st at 9am and close promptly on June 8th at 5pm. No late submissions will be accepted.
