Hello, Priscilla here! I am guest-blogging about paper resources.
Unfortunately two fantastic paper stores have closed recently: Arvey and Paper Zone. But have no fear! There are more resources around Portland and the internet that can fulfill our needs. I took a little adventure to two paper stores yesterday to check out what they had to offer:
925 SE Clay St.
Mon-Fri 7:30am – 5:00pm
Pricing – single sheets
text: 15 cents
cover: 30 cents
unprinted vellum / duplex: 50 cents
Review: Wow! How did I not know about Kelly Paper before? It reminded me of Arvey without the office supplies and wedding stationary. I noticed they did have: blank label sheets, door hangers, business card sheets and envelopes. Some of the brands they carry include Wausau, Mohawk, Neenah and Strathmore. They accept special orders and note that average lead time is 1-3 days. They will be closed May 19 for inventory.
835 East Burnside St.
Mon-Fri 7:30pm – 5:30pm
Review: They carry the usuals (Wausau, etc) as well as astro brights! It could be organized better. On the bright side, they have a clearance section and free drinks for customers! They also carry packing boxes and packing peanuts. At the moment they don’t sell single sheets, but a sales associate mentioned they will be in the future, tentatively priced at 13 cents a sheet for text weight.
